A 12-inch device is a different model from a 13-inch 12th Edition. Keyboards and pens must match the selected model and are separate unless your quote includes them.

Surface Pro combines a touchscreen tablet, built-in kickstand, and compatible keyboard options. The current business range includes 12-inch devices and 13-inch 12th Edition models, with processor, display, memory, and connectivity choices varying by configuration.
Tablet and laptop working
Move between handheld touch work, pen input, and typing with a compatible keyboard. Keyboards and pens are separate accessories unless included in the quoted bundle.
Current processor options
Choose Snapdragon X Plus in the compact 12-inch model, or Intel Core Ultra Series 3 and Snapdragon X2 options in the 13-inch 12th Edition. The processor also affects application and peripheral requirements.
Display and connectivity
The 12-inch uses a 90Hz LCD and USB 3.2. The 13-inch offers up to 120Hz LCD or OLED and USB4; Intel models add Thunderbolt 4 and optional 5G configurations.

Match accessories to the exact generation
A 12-inch Surface Pro is not a 12th Edition model designation. Confirm keyboard, pen, docking, application compatibility, and local availability for the particular device you select.

Evaluate the tablet and keyboard as one working setup
Surface Pro is relevant when the work benefits from changing input and posture: typing at a desk, reviewing a document with touch or making notes with a compatible pen. The device should be evaluated in those situations rather than treated as a laptop with an optional novelty. A user who never needs tablet or pen input may find the conventional Laptop format more appropriate.
An illustrative site-visit workflow might involve reviewing plans, annotating a document and returning to a desk to complete the report. The application needs to support that way of working, and the user needs the right keyboard, pen and charging arrangement. Touchscreen hardware alone does not make an ordinary desktop form convenient to use while standing.

Compatibility is specific to the model and accessory
Microsoft publishes separate keyboard and pen compatibility information. A Surface Pro keyboard is not a universal accessory for every Pro model, and pen charging, storage or haptic functions can depend on the combination of device, accessory and software. The quote should identify each item, not simply say that a keyboard or pen is included.
The Flex Keyboard is also a distinct product from other Type Covers and keyboards. Its supported detached use and accessibility features should be checked against the selected device. A product image showing a keyboard or pen does not establish the contents of the supplied package. Existing accessories should be checked individually before they are carried into a replacement-device plan.

Choose the platform and connectivity for the application
The current Surface Pro for Business family includes a compact 12-inch Snapdragon X Plus model and 13-inch 12th Edition models with Intel Core Ultra Series 3 or Snapdragon X2. The compact model uses UFS storage; larger models offer removable SSDs. Compare display, ports and connectivity within the exact model, then confirm local supply.
Arm-based options need the same application, plug-in and driver checks as any platform decision. Cellular connectivity is also model-specific and requires an appropriate service plan and coverage. It can provide another connection path, but it does not make a cloud application operate offline. Where work without signal matters, test the application’s own offline capability and data handling.

Build the device brief around the places it will be used
