A device choice includes its working environment
Check application and peripheral compatibility, accessories, connectivity, and management requirements. Copilot+ PC hardware does not by itself include a Microsoft Copilot subscription.
Put it to work with Braintree.
Braintree helps select and source the right configuration, connect it to your Microsoft environment, and plan deployment, support, and refresh. Available South African models and lead times are confirmed when quoting.
Microsoft product guidance
A fleet that is ready for its users.
Windows Autopilot and Microsoft Intune can enrol devices and apply the organisation’s applications and policies. Confirm management subscriptions, device configuration and deployment scope in the quote.
Buy a device. Plan a rental fleet.
Use the Braintree Shop for current purchase options and Rentals for the current rental range. Availability, accessories and commercial terms belong in the quote.
PROJECT CONTEXT
Build the device brief.
Specify user roles, applications, mobility, connectivity and the number of devices. Add the keyboard, pen and docking requirements. Decide how the fleet will be enrolled, secured and supported before choosing the acquisition option.
01
Test the work that determines your device choice.
A device trial should reproduce an ordinary working day: the finance workbook with its add-ins, the customer presentation, the video call, the VPN connection and the printer used at a branch. Record what must work locally, what runs in a browser and what depends on a remote desktop. This makes the selection about working requirements rather than a processor label.
For an Arm-based model, Microsoft distinguishes native applications from applications running through emulation. Drivers need separate attention: a legacy scanner, specialist peripheral or security agent can require an Arm-compatible driver. Check the exact application versions and accessories your organisation uses. A successful Office demonstration alone does not validate the rest of the estate.
02
Specify everything the user needs on day one.
Decision
Evidence to compare
Memory and storage
Use representative files and concurrent applications. Include local data requirements and the expected usable life of the device.
Screen and input
Evaluate readability, touch, pen use and keyboard comfort in the environment where the work happens.
Connectivity and accessories
Confirm the exact ports, dock, displays, charger, keyboard and mobile connectivity supported by the quoted configuration.
Recovery and replacement
Separate hardware warranty, accidental damage options, spare-device arrangements and IT configuration support in the commercial comparison.
03
Keep deployment and device ownership connected.
Autopilot registration identifies a device with an organisation before deployment; Intune enrolment brings it into management. These are distinct records and steps. Agree who handles registration, tenant association, application packaging and enrolment problems before devices are delivered to remote users.
The IT owner should approve application and security policies, identify test users and confirm how user files are restored. The procurement owner should maintain the asset register, assignment and return conditions. Braintree supply, configuration and ongoing support responsibilities should appear explicitly in the quote. A rental or purchase choice does not by itself define the service around the device.
At reassignment or return, account for user data, recovery keys, management records and Autopilot registration. Agree the responsible administrator and evidence of completion. Treat repair and motherboard replacement as lifecycle events that may affect registration, rather than assuming the replacement machine will automatically inherit the original setup.
