PRODUCT CAPABILITIES

What’s in scope.

01

Company setup

Commission the Business Central environment and apply the base company configuration. Prebuilt reference data for countries, currencies and postal codes provides a starting point for the setup work.

02

Data migration templates

Map master data and opening balances into purpose-built templates. The published scope includes general ledger, payables, receivables, inventory and fixed assets, with each load validated against the legacy records.

03

Configuration quality checks

Review configuration and migrated data before go-live. The checks provide a structured point for resolving discrepancies and confirming that the prepared environment is ready for user validation.

04

Repeatable company setup

Use tools for copying relevant setups and data between companies. This supports a consistent approach where the implementation includes more than one Business Central company.

Set up, migrate and validate

FastTrack requires Business Central and an internet connection. Braintree’s approach includes preparation, migration, key-user training and go-live support, with the deliverables and responsibilities established for the actual implementation.

✓

Agree the company setup and data migration scope.

✓

Prepare and review master data and opening balances.

✓

Validate each load against the source system.

✓

Complete user testing, training and go-live readiness checks.

01

A structured start for a new company

FastTrack is the implementation toolset and process documented by Braintree for a new Business Central installation or a new company in an existing installation. The Help overview starts with a tenant in Microsoft’s cloud, the extension installed and the appropriate setup role centre selected. It then guides the team through company configuration, finance, trading modules and opening balances.

The initial questionnaire identifies the functionality the business needs. The documentation advises enabling relevant features and adding others when required. That keeps setup decisions tied to the operating model: whether the company holds inventory, uses multiple locations, needs advanced warehousing or requires projects and manufacturing configuration.

02

Build the company and financial structure first

Company-wide setup supplies reference data and common settings before module configuration. The documented tools include country information, South African postal codes, payment terms, number series, payment methods and user setup records. These are starting configurations that the team reviews and adapts; reference data is not a substitute for checking the company’s own reporting and transaction requirements.

Finance setup covers the general ledger, accounting periods, dimensions, bank accounts, currencies and posting configurations. A standard chart of accounts can be loaded or an organisation’s chart imported from Excel. Dimensions are selected and prioritised so that the reporting structure is established before balances and transactions depend on it.

03

Load master data with reviewable templates

FastTrack templates map Excel data into Business Central tables. The documented configuration allows fields to be selected, column sequence to be controlled and validation rules to be assigned. Rules can check required values, text lengths and numeric ranges. The source data still needs preparation and review, especially when old codes or duplicate records no longer reflect the intended new process.

The sales setup documents customer records with delivery addresses and primary contacts. Purchasing covers vendors and banking details. Inventory setup includes items, locations and posting relationships. Fixed-asset setup creates the relevant categories and depreciation configuration, then imports master details and financial values. Each area needs a named owner who understands the data being loaded and can review the result.

04

Reconcile opening balances before trading

The opening-balance guide requires completed module configuration, validated master data and an agreed financial cutover date. General-ledger balances are loaded by account and, where used, dimension combination. The take-on batch must balance. Customer and supplier balances can be loaded as open transactions, retaining the document and due-date information needed for collection and payment activity.

The process creates a template, imports the prepared data, exposes errors for review and opens the resulting journal for checking before posting. Invalid accounts or dimension codes must be resolved against the source records. Subledger take-on uses configured balancing accounts, so the handover should include reconciliation between the subledgers and the general ledger, rather than relying on an import-complete message.

05

Use readiness as the decision to go live

The published engagement includes key-user training, configuration checks, process testing and go-live support. The Help overview calls for sample-data testing and a readiness assessment. Braintree can use those activities to define the actual delivery scope, responsibilities and evidence required for switching systems.

  • Agree companies, modules, legacy data sources and the cutover approach.

  • Set reporting dimensions and posting relationships before loading balances.

  • Validate master records and opening values with the business owners.

  • Test the transactions users must complete at go-live.

  • Confirm training, outstanding issues and the agreed support arrangements before the readiness decision.

EVIDENCE & DOCUMENTATION

Documented cutover and balance checks

The opening-balance guide requires configuration and master-data validation before take-on, then provides an import, error-review and posting sequence for the ledger and trading subledgers.
