MICROSOFT PRODUCT CAPABILITIES
Make the next sales action easier to see.
Built on Microsoft Dataverse, Dynamics 365 Sales connects customer records with the sales process. Sellers can work from leads and opportunities through quotes and orders, while managers review forecasts, progress, and the quality of the pipeline.
Accounts and relationships
Keep contacts, activities, notes, and relationship history against the customer record so the next conversation starts with context.
Lead-to-order process
Guide sellers through qualification, opportunity management, quotes, orders, and the actions needed to progress a deal.
Pipeline and forecasting
Review opportunities, expected revenue, and sales performance with dashboards and forecasts that support regular pipeline conversations.
Copilot and sales intelligence
Use supported record summaries and assistance. More advanced conversation and relationship intelligence depends on the selected Sales edition and configuration.
Professional, Enterprise, or Premium
Choose the edition for your selling process, customisation needs, and intelligence requirements. Dataverse permissions and the quality of customer and activity data shape what the application can use.
Put it to work with Braintree.
Braintree configures your stages, fields, security, and reporting, connects the necessary systems, and helps sellers build useful daily habits in the application.
Microsoft product guidance
A sales process your team can follow
Implementation starts with the stages, ownership rules and handovers that matter to your business. Existing customer data, lead sources, approval requirements and reporting needs shape the configuration before automation is added.
✓
Define lead qualification and opportunity stages.
✓
Agree which activities and customer interactions need recording.
✓
Identify marketing-to-sales handovers and reporting owners.
✓
Confirm licences, integration permissions and the data needed for AI features.
01
What changes between first enquiry and order
A CRM buying decision often starts with a concrete failure: the account manager knows the customer, the opportunity is on a spreadsheet, and the next action lives in somebody’s inbox. Dynamics 365 Sales provides a record of the account, contacts, opportunity and selling activity. The implementation must define which of those records is authoritative and what information is required before a deal moves forward.
For example, an account team selling a business solution can qualify an enquiry, record the stakeholders, develop the opportunity and track the quote. A manager then reviews the same opportunity rather than maintaining a separate forecast spreadsheet. This is an illustrative workflow; the stages, approvals and commercial records are configured for the business.
02
Guidance and forecasting need usable inputs
Microsoft distinguishes the core sales process from the higher-capability selling features available through different offerings. Sales accelerator organises sequence-led work, while predictive scoring and conversation intelligence depend on the licensed capability and the data available. Enterprise can include limited capacity for some Premium features; the proposed licence needs to match actual usage.
A useful evaluation tests the inputs as well as the interface. Are contacts associated with the right accounts? Are deal amounts, stages and expected close dates maintained? Are activity records reliable? A forecast that is easier to view still requires agreed definitions and ownership. AI-generated summaries or suggested messages should be reviewed by the seller before use.
03
Integrations that deserve a demonstration
Outlook and Teams can connect collaboration with customer records. The scope must establish what is tracked, who can see it and how users connect the correct conversation to the correct record. Excel remains useful for analysis, but the team should identify which updates belong in the CRM rather than in an uncontrolled local copy.
Ask for a demonstration using a representative handover: marketing creates or qualifies the lead; sales develops it; delivery or service receives the accepted work. If the next step requires project budgets, scheduling or service cases, Project Operations or Customer Service may be part of the design. Sales is not the full project-delivery, accounting or support platform.
04
What the implementation should settle
Braintree can map the selling process, migrate the selected records and configure roles, workflows and reporting around the agreed scope. The engagement should make data ownership and adoption practical: a small set of well-maintained stages is more useful than an elaborate process the team does not follow.
A record model covering accounts, contacts, leads and opportunities, with duplicate handling and required fields.
An agreed seller workflow, manager review process and marketing-to-sales handover.
Integration and permission decisions for Microsoft 365 and connected business systems.
Representative user acceptance scenarios, training responsibilities and a route for changes after go-live.
